Light Stabilizers for Wood Coatings

Clariant offers products that are especially recommended to fulfill the requirements of wood coating applications.

For both interior and outdoor applications, light-induced degradations of wood coated surfaces can be reduced significantly by using light stabilizers. Organic UV Absorbers are the right additives to be used in clear coats, clear and tinted varnishes and semi-transparent coatings to filter out the harmful UV radiations from sun light, hence protecting the coating as well as the wood substrate itself from further damages. For exterior applications, radical scavengers will be used in combination with UV absorbers in order to ensure an enhanced light stabilization of the coating, especially in respect to the binder protection, to avoid early yellowing and physical damages like cracking or blistering.
